Knock at the doors of the city and discover everything Valencia can offer.
They are one of the master pieces of the Valencian civil Gothic style and the west entrance to the former walled city. Together with the Serranos Towers, they are the only remnant of the 12 doors and the medieval walls of the city. They provide access to Quart Street, which leads to Plaza del Tossal and the popular Caballeros Street.
Built in the mid-15th century and inspired by the castle of Castel Nuovo in Naples, they are one of the big constructions in Valencia raised during the well-known Golden Age, the same period in which the Silk Exchange was built and the Cathedral was extended.
On its walls you can still see the effects of the bombing by Napoleon’s troops during the Peninsular War.
