The oldest preserved church in Valencia, built after the Christian conquest in the 13th century.
The church and the hospital of San Juan del Hospital were founded in 1238 by the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, as a reward for their military aid in the conquest of the city. The walls of this church, the oldest in the city, house many treasures, such as the mausoleum of an empress, the sole remaining urban cemetery and a unique set of wall paintings. A jewel of the medieval Valencia that no visitor should miss.
