The Silk Museum of Valencia exhibits the temporary exhibition The great fashion in silk. Siglo XX, a show with pieces by prominent designers who have gone down in the history of fashion as Christian Dior, Pierre Balmain, Yves Sain Laurent, Carolina Herrera, Emilio Pucci, Lanvin, Givenchy, Karl Lagerfeld, Guy Laroche, Balenciaga, Valentino and Gaultier, in addition to others less known but with designs that give an interesting vision on the importance that had the fashion in the last century The exhibition, which will be visible until the month of October 2019, is divided into wedding dresses, street, party and accessories. The exhibition, the sixth temporary exhibition of the Valencian museum on its third anniversary, aims to offer a "great tribute to the great designers of the twentieth century". The history of fashion reflects an evolution, both in clothing and accessories and, around them, have appeared industries such as silk in Valencia.
The wedding dress is one of the most complex textile items for both the fabric and the ornamentation and in this sample there are pieces that range from a 1908 dress in linen and lace to a design by E. Stauffer in satin duchess with organza of natural silk Also the festive dress is expensive elaboration, since it is a garment usually of Haute Couture. We will find Valentino or Emma Domb clothes, among others. The room of the Pometa exhibits street costumes, as well as a graphic part with sketches by designers and covers of fashion magazines. The Hall of Fame welcomes festive costumes of the mid-twentieth century. Finally, the visitor can access a room dedicated to the trimmings with accessories -some of Chanel- as hats, bags or shoes; adorned with feathers, rhinestones or embroidery, among others. The Silk Museum of Valencia turns 3 years On June 17, 2016 the Silk Museum of Valencia was officially inaugurated and, since then, 6 different temporary exhibitions have been held and around 150,000 people have passed through its facilities.
