This street, one of the most famous streets in the city, didn’t exist until the 19th century, when an important urban reform opened a long straight road that finishes in Plaza de la Reina.
It offers a beautiful view of Santa Catalina Tower in the background. Together with Colón Street, it became the commercial and residence place of the Valencian bourgeoisie, and along it you can find splendid Modernist buildings.
The first telephone centre of Valencia was installed at a company located in this street. For its construction, which lasted around 30 years, it was necessary to demolish some medieval buildings and even emblematic convents, such as the Santa Tecla one.
